Project Mathematics! Sines & Cosines, Part III  VHS    30 minutes/1994   Grades 9-12

Relates the sine and cosine of an angle with the lengths of chords on a circle.  This leads to a derivation of addition formulas for determining the sine and cosine of a sum of two angles.  One application shows that a combination of a sine wave and a cosine wave of the same frequency is another sine wave, possibly shifted.  Another application shows how the addition formulas make it possible to determine exact expressions for sines and cosines of many angles in terms of square roots of integers. w Page 1
